A small but explosive book was recently published by a Macon, Georgia, author that deserves close perusal not only in Middle Georgia but all of America. The book is Land Grab — How Our Country Can Grab Your Land Without Paying a Fair Price (2014) by Alan H. Preston, who like his brother, uncle, and father, has a degree in Forestry (from the University of Georgia).  His parents, Druid and Carol Preston, have been our good friends and neighbors in Macon for nearly 30 years.

The powerful French Minister Cardinal Richelieu stated, “If one would give me six lines written by the hand of the most honest man, I would find something in them to have him hanged.” What Richelieu’s statement means is that the State can prosecute or blackmail and force anyone to do its bidding, once that person is targeted by the State for real, imagined, or fabricated offenses.

Few areas better illustrate the vast sweep of government power than asset forfeiture laws. Forfeiture --- which is simply a nice word for government seizure of private property --- has increased by over 1500 percent since 1979. Federal agents can confiscate private property with no court order and no proof of legal violations. Law enforcement officials love forfeiture laws because a hefty percentage of the takings often go directly to their coffers.



Diary of Dreams performs at the 2016 M’era Luna festival in Hildesheim, Germany. M’era Luna, “one of the biggest dark music events in Germany,” is held each year on the second weekend in August. Close to 25,000 people attend the festival annually to hear gothic, metal and industrial music performed on two large festival-style stages.
